REFLECT
- How does God’s love and forgiveness manifest through the events of Easter? Why is the resurrection of Jesus considered the foundation of Christianity? How does the belief in Jesus’ resurrection change a person's perspective on the past, present, and future?
- What is the significance of the signs that occurred around the crucifixion (e.g., the veil tearing)? What does it mean that followers of Christ have victory over sin and death?
RESPOND
- Which person in the Easter story do you identify with most (e.g., Peter, Mary Magdalene, the disciples) and why? What personal significance do the events of Holy Week (Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Resurrection Sunday) have for you?
- Tim Keller wrote the following in The Reason for God: Belief in an Age of Skepticism: “If Jesus rose from the dead, then you have to accept all that he said; if he didn't rise from the dead, then why worry about any of what he said? The issue on which everything hangs is not whether or not you like his teaching but whether or not he rose from the dead.” How does (or should) the resurrection of Jesus challenge us to “accept all that he said”?
