James 2:14-26
No Compromise in Faith

We apologize for the inconvience of this week's sermon video. We were only able to record  the audio of the entire service.

Reflect:

  • How do verses 15-17 answer the question in verse 14?  What is the difference in the words and actions of the person?
  • How does real faith reveal itself?  What point is James making about “faith” that is only doctrinal, only “believing” the right things?
  • What kind of “counterfeit Christianity” is James warning us about in these verses?  Why are these forms of false Christianity easier to live out than genuine Christianity?

Respond:

  • Read Genesis 15:1-6 and 22:1-19.  What came first, Abraham’s obedience or righteousness?  How were his faith and actions working together? (James 2:22)
  • Read Joshua 2:1-24 How did Rahab’s actions prove her faith?
  • Explain how James and Paul agree with each other?

Pray:

  • Pray as David did in Psalm 19:12. Who can discern his errors?  Declare me innocent from hidden faults.
  • Ask the Lord to show you the ways in which you may be in danger of counterfeit faith.
