Genesis 8
From The Beginning: Covenant

ENGAGE
● What are some of your favorite aromas?
READ
● Read or summarize the passage.
● Share any observations or questions from the passage or the sermon.
REFLECT
● “God remembered Noah” (8:1) and then what happened? Remembering implies
action on God’s part, how does this help us better understand Hebrews 8:12 in
light of His omniscience?
● What does the cycle of “seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and
winter, day and night” teach us about God and His faithfulness?
● What command did God give Noah in Genesis 8:16-17? How does this relate to
Genesis 1:26-28? What does this indicate about the purpose of God and the
responsibility of man?
● Read Genesis 6:5 and Genesis 8:21. What do these verses reveal about the
heart of man before and after the flood? How does Jeremiah 17:9 confirm this
truth?
● What was Noah’s first act when he came off the ark, and how did God respond?
Read and discuss Ephesians 5:2 and Hebrews 10:12 considering Jesus’ ultimate
sacrifice.
RESPOND
● In light of sacrifice and aroma, read and discuss Romans 12:1 and 2 Corinthians
2:15-17. What does it look like to live this way? What difference does it make to
those around us?
● In what ways does this account simply, clearly, and vividly illustrate the gospel?
● If time allows, read Hebrews 10. Notice the relation to Genesis 8:20-21.
PRAY
● Adoration - praise God for His holiness and faithfulness
● Confession - ask God to forgive sins knowing He will “remember them no more”
● Thanksgiving - thank Jesus for His sacrifice on your behalf
● Supplication - pray for needs in your small group and church
